2018年に「スタートアップ企業がよくやる間違い」という記事を書きました。
Littlebitsとは、電子モジュールを磁石でくっつけて回路を作るという機器を開発している会社です。
日本でどこの法人を代理店にするのか観察していると、なんとKORGなんかを選びやがりました。
たしかにKORGの社名は海外でも有名でしょう。しかし電子機器の販路となるとまったく無力な企業です。
有名ならいいとニンテンドーにグレープフルーツの拡販を頼むようなもんですわね。
KORG用にとシンセサイザーパーツまで作っていましたが、入門用なのにどえらい価格で笑ってしまったことがありました。KORGの担当者って少なくとも給料分稼いだのだろうか？ 外から見ていたら遊んでいたようにしか見えませんでした。
秋月電子とかスイッチサイエンスとか愛天童とかと組めばまだよかったのです。
自社がスタートアップのくせに、有名企業なら大丈夫だろうとロクに調査もしないでパートナーを間違えたLittlebitsのマーケティング担当はアホだと思いました。
2024年、ついにKORGとLittlebitsは代理店契約を解消したようです。KORGもKORGでできもしないことをやった無駄な８年でした。
Littlebitsのマーケティング担当者は巨額な機会ロスに繋がった大失敗をやらかしたことになります。

Littlebits is a company that develops devices that create circuits by attaching electronic modules with magnets.
When I was watching which Japanese company they would choose as their partner, they chose KORG.
The KORG name is certainly famous overseas. However, when it comes to sales channels for electronic devices, they are a completely powerless company.
It’s like asking Nintendo to sell grapefruit because it’s famous.
They even made synthesizer parts for KORG, but I laughed at the expensive big price for an entry-level product. I wonder if the KORG staff earned at least their salary?
From the outside, it just looked like they were playing around long time.
It would have been better if they had partnered with Akizuki Electronics, Switch Science, or Aitendo.
I thought the marketing staff at Littlebits were stupid for choosing the wrong partner without doing any proper research, thinking that a famous company would be fine, even though their company is a startup.
In 2024, KORG and Littlebits finally terminated their agency contract. It was a wasted eight years for KORG, as they tried to do things that KORG couldn’t do.
Littlebits’ marketing staff made a huge mistake that led to a huge missed opportunity.
I’m sorry for Littlebits future.
